Organizing a professional event requires early planning in order to achieve the goals set and make all participants happy. We give you a few tips to make your event a success!

Organizing your event

So the first thing is to define your goals, what you expect from your event and why you are gathering your collaborators. Your other choices will depend on this.

Once the goals have been defined, you need to think about the number and list of participants and set a date well in advance to notify them and make sure they are available.

You must then set the duration of your event. You must have enough time for your event to run smoothly, but you must also plan for breaks and refreshments, which are important moments for getting fresh air, exchanging ideas and creating a bond between the participants. To find the ideal duration of your event, don’t hesitate to set a timing (who speaks, when) and stick to it.

The question of the budget will also come up. Renting a venue, travel expenses, catering and entertainment, you have to plan everything.

Once all these elements have been defined, the most important step remains: choosing the place where you will meet. It is essential to organize it in an inspiring place and, above all, outside the formal company setting to encourage creativity and team productivity. The venue must be pleasant, comfortable and easily accessible. The choice of venue and its layout will depend on your event: brainstorming, conference, business meeting…

Privatize an Anticafé for your event

Privatizing an Anticafé for your professional event allows you to benefit from an atypical and warm venue that also meets the standards of event halls: various possible room layouts, choice of catering, team building offers, equipment etc. Anticafé’s design is thought to encourage creativity thanks to a thoughtful and friendly working environment. The counter and the teams on site give the premises a real and friendly atmosphere.

Don’t underestimate the impact of the venue on your event: privatizing a pleasant place allows your staff to be in the best conditions to speak freely, to be focused on a subject and to have better ideas. It also helps to brighten up your meeting and give it the tone you want.

Anticafé offers different locations according to your choice of city and event. Do not hesitate to contact our event teams to receive tailor-made proposals.

Who said that being in a meeting should not be enjoyable?

Interview with Candice, freelance at Anticafé

Let's meet Candice, a regular of Anticafé LaFayette who, along with her freelance activity, has just launched a new project. She's telling us all about it!

Hello Candice, who are you?

Hello! My name is Candice Poitrey. I am a freelance creator/writer and I love nature, animals and hiking. During the week, I hang out at Anticafé LaFayette.

You just started a project with us, can you tell us more about it?

Of course! I have designed an interactive map that allows Parisians to reintroduce the concept of “Countryside Sunday” in their lives. The tool solves some major problems when you want to plan a hike around Paris: how to get there, how long it takes, what trails to follow and what it looks like there, beyond the ring road?

To solve all this, I first covered 550 km of trails this summer on the GR1 (using public transport to go home every night to sleep). I took video shots of each route and recorded all my tracks. Then, I spent 2 months at Anticafé LaFayette to build a website called www.randonneeautourdeparis.com and that was advertised on My Little Paris, RFI, Oui FM Morning Rock and Chilowé.

Any advice for those who wish to launch their project?

To act. Acting and Daring: there’s a time to think about your project and there’s a time when taking time to think about it becomes an excuse not to achieve it and confront it with reality. And then, dare. I noticed that only in this grey area between doubt, smile, fear and excitement does something really happen that gives a new dimension to the project.

How would you describe Anticafé? What do you find there?

Working regular hours at Anticafé LaFayette allows me to structure my freelance life, increase my productivity and create a better balance between my professional and private life. The team at Anticafé LaFayette is very cool, makes awesome double coconut lattes for me and brightens my work days. In the past few weeks, I’ve also been talking more with the other coworkers and it opened up other very exciting opportunities for me.

We went to meet Manu, a photographer who is passionate about travel and who is currently exhibiting at Anticafé Bordeaux!

Hello Manu, who are you?

Hello, my real name is Emmanuel but everyone calls me Manu, I’m 31 years old. I come from the Toulouse area but Bordeaux has been my home base for so many years now. After my Baccalaureate, I studied Tourism Development between the Dordogne region and Ireland. 5 years ago, photography came into my life and never left.

What is your background?

Since I was 18, I had been using a small compact Kodak camera. In 2007, I went on an internship in the deep parts of Ireland, in Connemara, and was immediately fascinated by the changing lights and colors of the landscapes. Ireland is a delight for any landscape photographer.

In 2014, I bought my first SLR camera and came to Paris for a week to learn the basics of photography. Since then, I have been able to improve my technique during my travels to New York, Israel and recently in Cambodia. My favorite style is street and travel photography.

3 words to describe your world?

That’s a difficult question. It’s hard to define a world that’s constantly evolving. What probably stands out more from the Khmer Colors Expo is an Authentic, Colorful and Human atmosphere.

Can you tell us about the project around the exhibition?

In July 2018, my girlfriend Marianne went to Cambodia for a year on a humanitarian mission to Siem Reap near the Angkor temples. At the time, I had already intended to travel to Southeast Asia, as I had never been before.

In December 2018, I flew for a couple of weeks to Cambodia. This trip was a cultural but also a visual shock. One of those trips that deeply touches you.

When I came back, I had a taste of unfinished business with the country, and I had to go back. I contacted a photographer living there. Alessandro Vannucci. “Alé” is an Italian who has lived and worked in Cambodia for more than 10 years. I wanted to learn from him and be inspired by his world. In June 2019, I went back to Asia and literally went out of my comfort zone to be immersed in the culture with Alessandro.

When I returned, I had accumulated enough pictures to make a restitution of this trip. “Khmer Colors” is therefore my first exhibition.

What is Anticafé to you?

I found in Anticafé Bordeaux the perfect place to settle down and peacefully edit my photos in a creative and relaxed atmosphere. Over time, it has become my office and a personal workspace. It was actually there that the decision to hold the exhibition was made and then set up step by step. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Nicolas and his team for their always warm welcome and their confidence in my work.
