Organizing a professional event requires early planning in order to achieve the goals set and make all participants happy. We give you a few tips to make your event a success!

Organizing your event

So the first thing is to define your goals, what you expect from your event and why you are gathering your collaborators. Your other choices will depend on this.

Once the goals have been defined, you need to think about the number and list of participants and set a date well in advance to notify them and make sure they are available.

You must then set the duration of your event. You must have enough time for your event to run smoothly, but you must also plan for breaks and refreshments, which are important moments for getting fresh air, exchanging ideas and creating a bond between the participants. To find the ideal duration of your event, don’t hesitate to set a timing (who speaks, when) and stick to it.

The question of the budget will also come up. Renting a venue, travel expenses, catering and entertainment, you have to plan everything.

Once all these elements have been defined, the most important step remains: choosing the place where you will meet. It is essential to organize it in an inspiring place and, above all, outside the formal company setting to encourage creativity and team productivity. The venue must be pleasant, comfortable and easily accessible. The choice of venue and its layout will depend on your event: brainstorming, conference, business meeting…

Privatize an Anticafé for your event

Privatizing an Anticafé for your professional event allows you to benefit from an atypical and warm venue that also meets the standards of event halls: various possible room layouts, choice of catering, team building offers, equipment etc. Anticafé’s design is thought to encourage creativity thanks to a thoughtful and friendly working environment. The counter and the teams on site give the premises a real and friendly atmosphere.

Don’t underestimate the impact of the venue on your event: privatizing a pleasant place allows your staff to be in the best conditions to speak freely, to be focused on a subject and to have better ideas. It also helps to brighten up your meeting and give it the tone you want.

Anticafé offers different locations according to your choice of city and event. Do not hesitate to contact our event teams to receive tailor-made proposals.

Who said that being in a meeting should not be enjoyable?

Let's meet Candice, a regular of Anticafé LaFayette who, along with her freelance activity, has just launched a new project. She's telling us all about it!

Hello Candice, who are you?

Hello! My name is Candice Poitrey. I am a freelance creator/writer and I love nature, animals and hiking. During the week, I hang out at Anticafé LaFayette.

You just started a project with us, can you tell us more about it?

Of course! I have designed an interactive map that allows Parisians to reintroduce the concept of “Countryside Sunday” in their lives. The tool solves some major problems when you want to plan a hike around Paris: how to get there, how long it takes, what trails to follow and what it looks like there, beyond the ring road?

To solve all this, I first covered 550 km of trails this summer on the GR1 (using public transport to go home every night to sleep). I took video shots of each route and recorded all my tracks. Then, I spent 2 months at Anticafé LaFayette to build a website called www.randonneeautourdeparis.com and that was advertised on My Little Paris, RFI, Oui FM Morning Rock and Chilowé.

Any advice for those who wish to launch their project?

To act. Acting and Daring: there’s a time to think about your project and there’s a time when taking time to think about it becomes an excuse not to achieve it and confront it with reality. And then, dare. I noticed that only in this grey area between doubt, smile, fear and excitement does something really happen that gives a new dimension to the project.

How would you describe Anticafé? What do you find there?

Working regular hours at Anticafé LaFayette allows me to structure my freelance life, increase my productivity and create a better balance between my professional and private life. The team at Anticafé LaFayette is very cool, makes awesome double coconut lattes for me and brightens my work days. In the past few weeks, I’ve also been talking more with the other coworkers and it opened up other very exciting opportunities for me.

We went to meet Manu, a photographer who is passionate about travel and who is currently exhibiting at Anticafé Bordeaux!

Hello Manu, who are you?

Hello, my real name is Emmanuel but everyone calls me Manu, I’m 31 years old. I come from the Toulouse area but Bordeaux has been my home base for so many years now. After my Baccalaureate, I studied Tourism Development between the Dordogne region and Ireland. 5 years ago, photography came into my life and never left.

What is your background?

Since I was 18, I had been using a small compact Kodak camera. In 2007, I went on an internship in the deep parts of Ireland, in Connemara, and was immediately fascinated by the changing lights and colors of the landscapes. Ireland is a delight for any landscape photographer.

In 2014, I bought my first SLR camera and came to Paris for a week to learn the basics of photography. Since then, I have been able to improve my technique during my travels to New York, Israel and recently in Cambodia. My favorite style is street and travel photography.

3 words to describe your world?

That’s a difficult question. It’s hard to define a world that’s constantly evolving. What probably stands out more from the Khmer Colors Expo is an Authentic, Colorful and Human atmosphere.

Can you tell us about the project around the exhibition?

In July 2018, my girlfriend Marianne went to Cambodia for a year on a humanitarian mission to Siem Reap near the Angkor temples. At the time, I had already intended to travel to Southeast Asia, as I had never been before.

In December 2018, I flew for a couple of weeks to Cambodia. This trip was a cultural but also a visual shock. One of those trips that deeply touches you.

When I came back, I had a taste of unfinished business with the country, and I had to go back. I contacted a photographer living there. Alessandro Vannucci. “Alé” is an Italian who has lived and worked in Cambodia for more than 10 years. I wanted to learn from him and be inspired by his world. In June 2019, I went back to Asia and literally went out of my comfort zone to be immersed in the culture with Alessandro.

When I returned, I had accumulated enough pictures to make a restitution of this trip. “Khmer Colors” is therefore my first exhibition.

What is Anticafé to you?

I found in Anticafé Bordeaux the perfect place to settle down and peacefully edit my photos in a creative and relaxed atmosphere. Over time, it has become my office and a personal workspace. It was actually there that the decision to hold the exhibition was made and then set up step by step. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Nicolas and his team for their always warm welcome and their confidence in my work.

Waste reduction is a topic that speaks to us at Anticafé. When Loop contacted us to host an awareness workshop on waste management, we thought it was a great initiative. For those who won't be able to attend, Loop shares 5 tips with you!

At Loop we are convinced that reducing our environmental impact requires simple daily actions. This is why we engage the major brands and consumers together, so that everyone can act at their own level. Here’s our selection of 5 tips to reduce waste:

Avoid single-use products

We know that single-use products are everywhere in our daily habits: packaging, plastic boxes… If you notice that your garbage cans are full after a party or a simple meal with friends, there are some tricks to solve this problem!

For work meals or picnics, the best alternative is to use reusable cutlery, plates or cups, as well as a lunch box for the children. According to the French Health and Environment Association (Asef), 4.73 billion plastic cups are thrown away every year in France and only 1% are recycled. For several years now, some bars and festivals have been using reusable cups. Websites such as Les Z’ecolonomiks or Greenweez offer some items at a low price, for example bamboo fibre plates or plant-based plastic cutlery sets.

In addition, on MaBoutiqueLoop, reusable packages for consumer products allow you to easily get rid of single-use packaging for everyday shopping.

Finally, today more and more products offer a refill system, especially for your household products, to fill the reusable bottle once it is empty. This is the case of Ecover, or Hakawerk.

Borrow, Reuse, Give

Any renovation planned? A spring cleaning? Before rushing to the nearest hardware store, think about asking around your family, friends or neighbors… Often, someone already has the tool you need. There are also apps to borrow tools from people around you (Mutum, Pretik or Allovoisins).

For broken things, think about fixing them before throwing them away. Beneficial for the planet and for your wallet, fixing an item often prevents a new purchase. There are associations all over France that offer help by lending you tools and even offering workshops to repair objects at a lower cost, such as the Repair Café, or the Réseau francilien de réemploi (REFER) in Paris.

We have all experienced this situation: realizing that we hadn’t used a tool or worn a garment for years, and getting rid of it to make room. Think of apps like Vinted or LeBoncoin, on which you can give, sell or trade what you no longer want. It will make someone else happy and give a second life to your items that are still in good condition.

The teams of the Havas Paris advertising agency have been using the Anticafé spaces for...

The teams of the Havas Paris advertising agency have been using the Anticafé spaces for several years now to work, meet and so on. We met Olivier, Associate Director of Havas Paris Seven, who explains the benefits of this new work method!

How do you use Anticafé in your daily life at Havas Paris?

There are different situations. Our agency is in Puteaux. At the end of an appointment in Paris, going back to Puteaux can waste a lot of time, so Anticafé is the ideal place to finish our work day. We also have internal or external workshops with clients, and being in Paris is just more convenient and stimulating. Also, if the schedule allows it, starting your day in Paris can be pretty nice. Finally, outside of work, Anticafé is simply a great way to meet up with a friend!

What are the benefits of working outside of your open-space for the teams?

Actually, we move from one open space (the agency) to another (Anticafé). But it’s not the same thing at all. Inside the agency, you have an open space that facilitates exchange, agility and reactivity. Anticafé allows us to be alone or in a team, without disturbance to focus on a subject. And this allows us to be very efficient! Moreover, working in areas open to other people creates a certain emulation, an opening to the world that is essential in a society in perpetual movement.

Can you present Havas Paris Seven to us?

Of course, Havas Paris Seven is the commercial offer of the Havas Paris agency, which embodies advertising expertise. It has a portfolio of customers from the banking and consumer goods sectors such as Crédit Mutuel, Transavia, L’Oréal (Narta, Mennen,), Air France (Air France group), Intersport, Krys, Marque Avenue… and has won over 100 awards worldwide.

How did you meet Leonid, the founder of Anticafé?

In 2016, we were thinking about how to improve our frameworks and work methods. By coincidence, I came across an article presenting the Anticafé concept and announcing a new fundraising campaign. I contacted Leonid and arranged an appointment to discuss a possible collaboration. At first, we wanted to have our own Anticafé; Leonid convinced us that the best solution was to offer passes to all our employees. We listened to him and it was a success!

Fun fact, during our first meeting between Leonid and me (in an Anticafé of course), we were both 15 minutes early and we unknowingly waited in front of each other! ????

Thank you Olivier! If you are also interested in our Le Pass offer, do not hesitate to contact us: lepass@anticafe.fr

We went to meet Hadrien, a customer of Anticafé Strasbourg and the young founder of NIU, an activist and eco-friendly sunscreen!

Hello Hadrien, who are you, where are you from?

I am an entrepreneur, I am 25 years old and I come from Strasbourg. I am in love with nature and especially the oceans, which made me want to become a freediver early on!

You launched Niu, a start-up of eco-friendly sunscreens, can you tell us more about it?

Together with Corentin Boisselier, I founded a start-up company specializing in the development of eco-friendly cosmetics, and then we launched NIU this year. NIU is what we like to call an activist and eco-friendly sunscreen. We strived to develop a product that is as healthy for us as it is for the environment, by focusing part of our investments on environmental actions from the very beginning. Thanks to our sales, we can finance research, but also coral reef projects, beach clean-ups, plastic recycling… we also like to allow the associations we work with to meet each other, and to give more dimension to their actions by setting them up together. We’re like the Tinder of ecology!

Your crowdfunding campaign has blown up, how do you explain this craze?

It’s true that with nearly €30.000 instead of the €3000 requested, we were pretty surprised. To be honest, we expected to have to push people more to take an interest in ecology, but we were wrong. Mentalities are really changing, and in addition to supporting our developments and actions to the fullest, we realize that it is not just consumers who are buying our products, but a real community of people who are committed and bound by the same values. And I think that’s our greatest pride.

You regularly come to work at Anticafé Strasbourg, what do you find there?

Latte Macchiato frappés that are far too addictive! And more seriously, I find a real place to work there. Not just any coffee shop with wooden tables and chairs, or worn-out benches and a constant background noise. But a real cocoon to focus, with small places all different but all comfortable, peace and quiet, a lovely team… I love this place!

How would you describe Anticafé?

For me, Anticafé is a bit like the second office of any good entrepreneur.

Marine regularly gives yoga classes at Anticafé Bordeaux. From Australia to Florida, she tells us about her career and her projects.

Hello Marine, who are you, where are you from?

Hello, my name is Marine, I’m 26 years old. I come from the Reunion Island and I have been living in Bordeaux for 8 years now!

Tell us a little bit more about your background

I moved to Bordeaux immediately after graduating from high school: I enrolled in a communication/marketing school where I completed a Master’s degree. After that, I quickly found a job in marketing.

I realized that life behind a desk was not my thing, so I worked up the courage to go to Australia for a year in October 2017. I spent a year travelling, discovering a new culture and above all meeting many people. Above all, this experience allowed me to discover myself and what I really wanted to do with my life.

In Australia, yoga is very popular. During my stay, I tried several types of yoga and completely fell in love with it.

Back in Bordeaux (6 months ago now), I realized that I didn’t want to go back to my previous life so I decided to embark on a training course to become a yoga teacher. I then flew to North Florida where I discovered more spiritual aspects of yoga that I didn’t know about and the whole history behind it. It became obvious…

What do you love about your job?

So I have been teaching yoga classes in Bordeaux for 6 months now. What I love most as a yoga teacher is sharing. I meet really incredible people with whom I share the same values, the same beliefs. I learn a lot with my students. It’s very rewarding.

What’s your mantra?

“Be the energy you want to attract”. In other words, we must create the energies we want to see happening within us. I believe in the law of attraction.

Some fun facts about your workshops?

I find it amusing how some of my students copy every single thing I do. Sometimes I scratch my nose or put my hair back and I am surprised to see some people do the same. That’s funny! I often tell my students that their bodies must be allowed to express themselves and above all to listen to themselves. I am simply there as a messenger to guide them.

A future project in sight?

I am very happy because I have just launched my t-shirt brand “Spiritual wave” in collaboration with Yoann from PetitAloe. With this project, I want to transmit all my positive energies and make all women shine naturally. I hope I can do it!

For you, what is Anticafé?

Anticafé is a warm little cocoon. You don’t necessarily realize it from the outside, but once you get in, you don’t want to get out.

Marine regularly gives yoga classes at Anticafé Bordeaux. To make sure you don’t miss them, visit the Anticafé’s Facebook page????

Desperate situations call for desperate remedies: with this heat, we don’t introduce one, or two, or three but four new cold drinks!

Lemonade

The lemonade, a summer classic!

You probably know the proverb: “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. Well, we took that saying literally at Anticafé! With summer coming, we thought you absolutely needed a refreshing little booster! And what better way to quench your thirst than with lemonade ????

Grapefruit lemonade

The grapefruit lemonade, for lovers of sour drinks!

Of course, you will need it to accompany the sunny days of this summer! We have gathered all the essential elements: lemonade, grapefruit to fill up with vitamins and ice cubes for maximum freshness, and all prepared with care by our baristas!

Cold brew

The Cold Brew, THE solution to keep drinking coffee while also cooling off!

What if we told you that coffee is not only a hot drink? Cold Brew is a booming drink! It’s a coffee brewed in cold water for 18 hours! The result? A thirst-quenching drink, with smooth aromas and still the taste of refined coffee. As for our Anticafé blend, we are working with the Coutume roasting house on this new drink.

Iced Coconut Chocolate

The Iced Coconut Chocolate, the pleasure of a cold chocolate with the smoothness of coconut! A tasty plant-based alternative!

For those who are not going on holiday to tropical islands, we have thought of you. We have designed an iced chocolate drink with a coconut twist that will take you far away from the stress of the city! A tasty chocolate flavor mixed with the freshness of coconut and you will have everything you need to face the heat of this summer!

For the past few weeks, we have been watching Léopold, a regular customer of Anticafé Bordeaux, work on the launch of VOI, a self-service electric scooter program. We were curious to know more…

Hello Léopold, who are you, where are you from?

I am in charge of the development of the VOI startup in Bordeaux. Before that I worked for 3 years in Strasbourg at Tennispro – a company specialized in the sale of tennis equipment in Europe via its website and its network of franchised stores – as a textile, paddle-tennis and sports nutrition buyer.

I wanted to be part of a project more focused on entrepreneurship and with an ecological dimension. VOI gave me the opportunity to combine the two!

Voi is a self-service scooter system, can you tell us more about it?

VOI is a very young Swedish company, created in May 2018 and established in France in December 2018, notably in Paris and Lyon. After several exchanges with the City Hall and the Bordeaux Metropolis, VOI decided to take up this new challenge. It was therefore at the beginning of May that I joined the VOI team with the aim of developing its model in Gironde.

How do you explain the craze for « Free floating »?

Free-floating addresses several urban issues:

– The electric scooter can replace your car for all your daily trips from the office to your home in the city: you save money on your gas tank, you save time by avoiding traffic jams (by using the lanes reserved for two wheels).

– It is also part of a multimodal approach, as a means of transport complementary to the existing public transport network, and replaces the metro, tramway or bus when they no longer operate (in the evening and on Sundays, for example).

– Finally, they are the result of a global awareness: we must limit the use of our cars, especially in city centres, for health and sustainable development reasons: replacing your small car with a bicycle or scooter is a way of contributing to the fight against global warming!

You come to work at Anticafé Bordeaux, what do you find there?

I was looking for a quiet and warm place where I could make phone calls and organize some meetings from time to time. I also have the chance to be welcomed and pampered by a great team, always with a smile on their faces! That’s all I needed to get my business off to a good start.

How would you describe Anticafé?

Peaceful, friendly and affordable!

More info about VOI.

Do you also want to come and work at Anticafé Bordeaux? Come take a look ????

At Anticafé, we like to make our community happy. So we contacted Anne Humbert, the founder of 23heures59editions to organize a giveaway of her Notebook for Entrepreneurship on our Instagram account. We discovered a young and original publishing house!

Hello Anne, who are you, where are you from?

Hello, my name is Anne. I worked in media (TV and web) for a long time as an artistic producer and editor-in-chief. Mainly for lifestyle and cultural shows and websites.

I decided to stop this career 3 years ago, to start my own adventure!

Can you tell us about 23h59editions?

23heures59editions is a new kind of stationery brand. All our notebooks are based on methodologies and are real pocket coaches. They are, for their happy owners, companions on the road with precise actions to be carried out over a period of a few months. Our method notebooks are based on different themes: time management, project planning, organization, entrepreneurship and this is just the beginning. I would like to create notebooks that will serve as guides in many aspects of our personal and professional lives.

What triggered your decision to embark on this new adventure?

I wanted to change professions, I had a lot of ideas, but few methods. I searched everywhere (books, websites…) to find out how I could give myself the means to achieve my ambitions and sort out all my desires. Besides, I’m a paper lover and thinking has always seemed to me much more productive and efficient when writing. My first product “The Project Notebook” (released in April 2017) is the result of this need.

What advice would you give to future project holders?

Think about your brand, your universe, your artistic direction well in advance. In particular by investing in social networks to gather a community from the start, even if the product doesn’t exist. Then, contrary to what we hear a lot: I don’t agree with the idea of quickly releasing an unfinished product.

Another piece of advice: you have to realize that you’re not going to make money for a while, so you have to accept to revise your lifestyle and be careful with your budget by not making useless investments.

Of course, know how to surround yourself and eliminate from your circle of friends all the anxious people – those who like to give advice – the frustrated ones and others. In short, sort your friends out!

Finally (and therefore to contradict everything I just said ????) listen only to yourself. You know what has to be done, you just have to not be afraid and move forward. Creating your project is a fantastic adventure and I wouldn’t go back for anything in the world.

What are the upcoming news with 23h59editions?

We have just released a to-do list notebook to stay organized on a daily basis, with very original and efficient templates. We are currently finishing the design of the Carnet du Temps co-published with Live Mentor, which is going to be incredible! Don’t hesitate to register on www.23heures59editions.fr, to follow this adventure. Finally, I’m already working on partnerships with authors and another brand. But it will be for 2020!
